Rudyard Jr/Sr High School Awarded a $300,000 grant from the SME Education Foundation for Manufacturing and Engineering Education Opportunities. Only two schools in the entire UP were selected along with 14 schools in the LP. This grant will support the CTE and STEM programs with additional equipment, student certifications, and professional training for the staff. The goal of the programing is to support and grow students in-demand skills and knowledge of manufacturing. Michigan Senator Wayne Schmidt (Traverse City), chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on K-12 and Michigan Department of Education, who was also crucial to obtaining support, said “Michigan is a global leader in manufacturing and has been for more than 100 years. That’s our legacy and our future: we must provide education and training opportunity to students, communities and manufacturers across the state.” Congratulations and Excited to grow our CTE and STEM Programs! 2022 MTSL Championship Meet Five of the nine swimmers who were at U.P. Finals got in the car after the meet and headed to Saginaw to join the Rudyard Piranhas in the MTSL State Championship meet on Sunday. All 9 of the swimmers achieved MTSL qualifying times in 1 or more events but not all of them could attend the meet with us. In Saginaw, we saw more personal records set and our swimmers filled the podium to receive medals once again. We are a small but mighty group who made ourselves known in the pool all weekend! The Rudyard swimmers had a great weekend in the pool! After a very snowy (and a bit terrifying!) drive to Marquette Saturday morning, the swimmers competed in U.P. Finals where we saw some new personal records and many kids on the podium receiving medals.
