Position Summary:
Rudyard Area Schools is seeking a dynamic and passionate K–12 Music Teacher to lead and develop a comprehensive music program. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction across grade levels, fostering students’ musical skills, creativity, and appreciation for the arts. Responsibilities may include general music, vocal and/or instrumental instruction, and directing performances.
Qualifications:
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate (or ability to obtain prior to starting date)
• Music education endorsement (e.g., JQ – Music) as required by the Michigan Department of Education
• Compliance with all Michigan Department of Education certification requirements
• Demonstrated knowledge of music pedagogy across K–12 grade levels
• Ability to plan and direct vocal and/or instrumental ensembles
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience teaching music across multiple grade levels
• Experience directing band, choir, or other ensembles
• Ability to organize concerts and school performances
• Experience integrating technology into music instruction
Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction for K–12 students
• Develop students’ musical skills, including performance, theory, and appreciation
• Direct and manage school music ensembles and performances
• Organize and coordinate concerts and special events
• Collaborate with staff to support student development and school initiatives
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Compensation:
Compensation and benefits are pursuant to the Rudyard Federation of Teachers Contract.
