Welcome To The Robotics Team

Introducing the N.E.W.T. Team, short for Networked Engineers in Water-based Technology. Formed in September 2023, our main objective was to build a fully operational submarine for participation in a MATE Ranger competition. Our design process involved studying previous competitors and then synthesizing the best features into our design. The centerpiece of our submarine is the pneumatic claw, which is used for payload-related missions. Submarines or ROVs like ours have practical applications in the real world. These compact ROVs can access locations that are inaccessible to humans, such as reefs, deep waters, and areas with high fish populations. Our ROV is scheduled for an expedition to Drummond Island, where we will research Lake Trout populations and breeding. Additionally, it will undertake numerous missions in local bodies of water to capture images for our team.
