    Hello and thanks for visiting!
I have been coaching and teaching children in a Physical Education setting for 31 years in the Rudyard Area School District.
I am also Varsity Volleyball Coach. This year I am teaching K-6 PE.

Rudyard is a Division 4 school district and is located in the heart of Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula.

Physical Education is an instrument to improve the quality of life for our students by improving
physical fitness, skill, knowledge, and personal/social skills.
One of the most significant predictors for future success and personal happiness for persons with any type of disability (mental or physical) is not academic success but social success.
A child who cannot catch a ball, for example, stands to lose a lot more than the chance to be a Little League hero. He/She may not be invited to join in games, may be self-conscious and feel badly about him or herself, may experience an early lack of interest in anything having to do with physical activity or sports, and may believe that all this is because something is "wrong" with him/her.
However...A CHILD WHO LEARNS TO CATCH OR THROW OR KICK OR PLAY THE GAME SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO PLAY...
MAY BE ASKED TO JOIN THE GROUP AND HAVE ONE LESS THING TO FEEL SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT.

"A school is a building with four walls...
    and tomorrow inside."
