MR. CHAD FOLKERSMA
Hi! My name is Chad Folkersma, I am the Jr/Sr High School Principal at Rudyard.
It is truly an honor to be able to lead the school that I graduated myself from. Rudyard Jr/Sr High School is steep in history and pride dating back to when the school was founded in 1890. Our school offers one of the most diverse and largest curriculums in the region, including in house college courses, a variety of electives in art, theater, sciences and social studies. I believe that our school is large enough to offer a great deal of choices in courses, clubs, and sports; but small enough to relate and work with all students. We continue to look for new programs and courses to offer that will best fit our students and their needs.
I love the Upper Peninsula and enjoy exploring it with my wife Denise and our two kids Eli and Emma. I'm an avid woodworker and enjoy watching the Detroit Lions break my heart year after year. When I was in high school I was a varsity basketball, cross country, and track. While in school I was able to take part in many theater programs and productions that the school offered. I firmly believe that students need interactions as many activities as possible as it helps build critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, and problem solve. Over the past 15 years in education I have had the honor to work in a number of districts and settings that have helped me grow in my educational understanding including a large urban school district, an alternative academy, a regionally large high school, and my alumnus school.
If you would like to contact me about enrolling your student, or have a concern that you would like addressed please feel free to call (906)-478-3471 ext 2100 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org A general rule of thumb is that we can’t help if we don’t know there is a problem, so open and honest communication is a must for the success of our students.
